Disney Cruise Line promises holidays where, in its own words, 'the magic never stops' — since its first sailing in 1998 the Walt Disney Company's cruise arm has built the whole product around family storytelling. The line points to original Broadway-style shows, Disney and Marvel characters roaming the decks, and rotational dining that moves guests through themed restaurants each evening while the same servers follow them. Adults get their own pools, bars and restaurants away from the family decks, and most Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries call at Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, the line's two private Bahamian destinations.

Families are the core audience, but every ship has adults-only areas: a separate pool deck, the spa, bars and lounges, and speciality restaurants that under-18s cannot enter. Plenty of couples sail Disney for the service and the shows rather than the characters.
The fare covers the stateroom, meals in the rotational restaurants and the buffet, room service, soft drinks with meals, the theatre shows and the age-banded kids' clubs. Alcohol, speciality dining, the spa, shore excursions and gratuities are charged separately.
