What to Do in a Day in Dubrovnik

Take the shuttle from Gruž port to the Old Town and enter through Pile Gate. Walk the complete circuit of the city walls (about 2 km) for spectacular views over rooftops and the sea. Stroll down the marble Stradun, visit the Rector's Palace and the Franciscan Monastery. Take the cable car to Mount Srđ for panoramic views, then cool off with a swim at Banje Beach or take a short ferry to peaceful Lokrum Island.

Dubrovnik Airport (DBV)

DBV is about 22 km southeast of Gruž; 30–35 min by road. The Platanus airport shuttle runs to flight schedule between the airport and Gruž bus station / Pile Gate — €10 one-way / €15 open return. Taxis are around €30–40 in either direction.

Old Town (Pile Gate)

Gruž is ~3 km northwest of the Old Town. Public buses 1A, 1B and 3 run between the port and Pile Gate every ~15 min for ~€2 (single ticket). Taxis are around €10–15. Walking is possible (~30–40 min) but uphill in places. Many cruise lines also offer a paid shuttle.
